HOW SPONSORING WMS PROVIDES A SYSTEM CHANGE

Everyone knows that the mental health system is broken and fails to provide the
appropriate housing and treatment for millions suffering with SMI.
By making a DONATION to WMS you are contributing to make this change happen.
Rivers of funding have been allocated to scientific research in the hopes of a discovery
for new medications hoping that one single magic bullet will solve this complex illness.
However, scientists are coming to the conclusion that the answer might reside in a
complex set of measures, and not just one solution.
A huge number of studies already show how a combination of therapies can indeed
dramatically improve the lives of those with SMI – however no one has thought of
putting them into practice. And that’s what we are doing.
WMS is the first “therapeutic supportive home study” that will apply these evidence-
based good practices that have been proven to improve the health of people with
schizophrenia and SMI. During 5 years the progress of residents can be monitored by
partnering universities.
This progress data will help to create the WMS therapeutic program blueprint – so that
our program can be replicated to improve the many housing projects that have already
received government funding – but lack appropriate support for people with SMI.
With our Pilot Home running we can offer training courses and supervision to
implement the WMS Supportive Therapeutic Housing
methodology in county funded facilities.
